This is a fine antique sterling silver christening mug, fully hallmarked for Exeter 1856.
Made by the renowned silversmiths Josiah Williams & Co, it weighs a substantial 163 grams.
The mug features the attractive "lined" pattern design, with crisp horizontal bands around the body.
It has a gilt (gold-wash) interior that remains bright and well-preserved.
The hallmarks are in beautiful, sharp condition, clear and easy to read.
An engraved family crest with initials and the inscription "V March MDCCCLVI" adds to its historical charm.
The handle is elegantly shaped with a thumb rest for comfortable holding.
This is a solid, well-crafted piece with excellent proportions.
